Who we are
Desire to renew our grandfathers' heritage was stronger than anything. That is why after thoroughly reasoning we – sisters Barbara and Tajana Ban – decided to renovate our hoary legacy which we inherited from our father Dušan. The object is the part of century old semi-detached house in small picturesque village Štokovci and belonged to our beloved grandfather Anton. The two of us also lived there until grandpa Anton past away in 1990. After that, the abandoned house had been waiting for better days, holding on to promise given to grandpa that we will treasure it.
Renewing of Legacy
After thorough renewal through which we discovered many secrets of our old house, we have created our new heaven – a beautiful stone villa with comfort of contemporary living. Former old house kept its old charm, but gained modern living room, spacious dining room in what used to be a wine cellar, commodious bedroom with bathroom on the first floor and another charming attic bedroom with bathroom under wooden beams. We tried to keep the antiquity as much as we could.
Refreshment in the Pool
The house is still decorated with original ertas, a stone bracket for windows and door, old tin blinds, original large iron gate, while a hundred years old stone well which supplied the house with water still stands besides spacious terrace ideal for evening enjoyment. Fragments of old walls reveal the beauty of stones embedded in the house. Likewise, we kept the yard entrance and original garden enclosed with drystone wall typical for Istria. The green oasis is kept secure from sights, while we renewed the drystone with our own hands using old building techniques. During summer heats the refreshment can be found in large pool or perhaps in the shadow of Mediterranean fruits, including a number of fig sorts, or under charming grape arbor. Domestic vegetables can be picked from our own kailyard near the well.
